Birthday Card ~ Make A Wish {4th Post}

I cut the colored up cat out with a circle die.

Next I added the balloons after fussy cutting them from design paper.

I cut the circles so the balloons would extend outside them.

Then I adhered another piece of design paper to the card front.

I framed up the sentiment and finished off my card with some sequins.

Thank You Card ~ Hello There {2nd Post}

First I stamped the image then partial cut it out with a circle die.

Next I fussy cut the flower the rest of the way out.

I framed it up with another circle die cut.

To finish it off I added the image circle to the sentiment embossed background.

Love/Valentine ~ For You

Oh my goodness where has January gone?

I hope that your weather clears up real soon if you are in the midst of a storm.

We have been unusually dry this month.

The rain is coming back today. not sure how I feel about that.

It has been nice to have dry weather but we need the rain, too.

 

I started again with a sketch.

I've done this one before and returned to it

because it was a fun one to add lots of layers and elements.
I added little hearts from the border die to the twig in the bird's mouth
and floating around their heads.
I just love these cute little critters.

Cocoa Holder ~ You Are My Joy {1st Post}

Oh my goodness 2013 is quickly coming to and end and here I am sharing another Christmas idea.
I found this cute stamp at Michaels on clearance and just had to make a cocoa holder with it.
I'll put this cutie away and make some more for next year.
The image is so sweet I just had to share it.
It reminded me of a few things that filled me with joy this year...
First off going to the zoo with my daughter. It is something we do just the two of us. Each time we buy a cup of cocoa and wonder the zoo looking at the animals. Especially the sweet little baby ones.
And it also reminded of the joy I feel just hanging out with loved ones this time of year.

Birthday Card ~ Light It Up (post #1)

I thought I would give a one layer CAS card another try.
First I got out my new Pinwheels & Popsicles stamp set that arrived in my mailbox last week.
I stamped the lanterns in the upper left hand corner then again in the upper right hand corner after masking off one the lanterns so I could have them overlap a little.
Next I used the ribbon section from the That's a Wrap stamp set to create a frame for my sentiment.
The lower left hand corner was a tad empty and I wanted to add something birthday related so I used this adorable mouse and present from the Hello Friend stamp set.
I colored them all up using my Tombo colored pencils.

Thank You Card ~ CAS (post #2)

Okay I've decided that I am definitely not a one layer CAS kind of card crafter. lol.
I usually do not put a whole lot of layers and embellishments on my cards so they will be postal friendly but I do like to add a little something here and there to spice things up a bit.
I got this cute Penny Black stamp set about a month ago and thought it would be the perfect set to give my one layer card a little dimension using multiple colors.
While I do like how this card turned out I would love to have made it with a matching frame under the white card front and maybe a little bling in the flower centers, and......
Isn't the sentiment font pretty?

Thinking of You Card ~ Pretty Pink Flowers (post #2)

Here is my 2nd card for today.
After I colored up this little cutie I covered the sparklers she is holding with this little bouquet of flowers.
I added the sentiment to this card by stamping up two of the background panels.
Then I embossed the larger oval frame to add some dimension.
It is my HOPE that this card will lift the spirits of the person who receives this card.
I always feel better when I know someone is thinking of me.

Thinking of You Card~ Pretty in Pink (post #1)

When I was looking through my Paper Nest Doll images to find one to add to this card this little sweetie screamed "color me pink!"
After I colored her up I added a little glitter glue to her purse so it would stand out and coordinate with the glittery ribbons on the design paper.
(sorry the glitter is not showing up in the pictures)
My HOPE when I made this card was that it would help someone who is fighting this awful disease to know someone is thinking of them and that they are not alone.

Birthday Card ~ My Neck of the World

As I'm sure you have already figured out I LOVE to play along with challenges.
For me they are a great way to challenge myself to try something new, return to a forgotten technique or use some of my crafting supplies.
To celebrate World Card Making Day Flourishes is having a challenge where they have asked us to create something that represents or is inspired by our state or province.
The theme is called Your Corner of the World.
I live in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States where pine trees and other evergreens grow freely.
While not many of us go out on horseback to bring our Christmas trees home lots of us do go out and cut down our own tree.
When I was a child my dad would go out in our yard to cut one down.
After I colored up this terrific image, using colored pencils, I decided it would make a wonderful masculine birthday card.
I wanted to keep the image the focal point so I framed it with green card stock to bring out the greens in the pine trees.
Then I chose a color that would bring out the browns in the horse and the other trees and embossed it for dimension.
To finish off my card I chose this sentiment and added a few metal brads

Thank You Card ~ School Theme

Hi bloggy friends!
The first few weeks are busy ones for us in the biz. School biz that is.
For a lot of you summers are busy, busy, busy with your kiddos and crafting time is limited.
The school year is the time my crafting time is the most limited.
The weekends are so short. lol.
I snuck in a little crafting time this morning before we head out to spend the day with one of my brothers.
I have wanted to play along with this Mojo Monday sketch and all the other challenges I play along with all week but honestly I have just been too exhausted by the time I make it home from work.
Teaching is the BEST job in the world but after enjoying a nice slow paced summer getting back into the routine takes my ol' body a little getting used to.
Today I created another school themed thank you card.
We have a lot of wonderful parent volunteers at our school and the PTC has already planned three yummy staff appreciation luncheons for us to look forward to (fall, winter and spring) so thank you cards come in real handy.
