Birthday Card ~ Happy 50th

Here is the birthday card I made for my faux-brother.
He has been a friend of my sisters for years and he was there for us BIG TIME when we were caring for our Mom while she was fighting cancer.
I appreciate all of his love, tenderness and support. He is the best.
I made his card a multipurpose card.
Part card, part note holder and part picture frame so he can add a special picture from tonight's party if he wants.

*Card base 5.5 x 4.25 in.
*Card front 5.25 x 4 in. using design paper from the Recollections Black & White 8.5 x 11.5 in. pad.
*Happy & Birthday sentiments from (unknown).
*50 cut using the Cuttlebug Olivia alphabet dies.
*Presents & balloon from a Cuttlebug 3 x 3 party die.
*Memento Tuxedo Black stamp pad.
*Foam tape to add dimension.
May your day always be filled with love.

Has it really...

Has it really been that long since my last post?
Sorry I've been busy trying to get things ready for my classroom and other school related projects.
I have a birthday party to go to tonight and haven't even started the card.
AND I have just been in a creative mojo hole lately.
Sometimes I sit at my crafting table and just move things around.
I have a lot of ideas but just can't seem to get them to come to light.
My daughter asked me to go to the zoo on Monday and to see the mummy exhibit on Tuesday.
We had a great time.
I love hanging out with her.
She has grown into such a wonderful young woman.
Then I decided to just give myself the rest of the week off.
No pressure.
Just hang out and do nothing if that's what I felt like and guess what it was. lol.
Thanks for understanding.
Back soon with some crafty creations.
May your day always be filled with love.
Hugs,
D~

School Deco ~ School House

Each year I try to make a little something different to mix with my previous years bulletin board decorations.
The bulletin board in the hallway outside of my classroom is about 8 feet long and 14 inches tall.
A few years back I made a bunch of 10 inch students for the board.
Each year I rearrange them and each month I change what they have around them and are holding.
I made this school house to add to my board for the month of September.
It will be joined by the backpacks, books and other assorted school supplies I've made for past years as well as anything else I have time to make before the start of school.
*School cut at 10.75 in. from the Cricut Autumn Celebrations cartridge.
The school letters are actually meant to be used one at a time but I thought they would look good as a banner so I used the negative letter cut and then hand cut the banner.

May your day always be filled with love.

Thank You Card ~ Pig At School

Well I guess mother nature knows how I have been feeling the last few days...
A little gloomy since my summer break is coming to a close so she is treating us to a cloudy and wet day.
Teaching kiddos reading and math is an extremely rewarding job and I love it but I have enjoyed my summer vacation so much.
Spending time with family...
Our little vacation trip...
Getting to see 6 of my 7 siblings...
Having lots of time to craft...
Making the back to school thank you cards has been fun and I know they will come in handy once school starts.
I have so many things to do to get ready for school and I just can't get motivated to do them today. lol.
Enough about that. Here is my next school themed thank you card.

*Card base 5.5 x 4.25 in.
*Card front 5.25 x 4 in. from Recollections Back to School paper package.
*Banners from the Verve Stamps  Flag It Die Set.
*Sentiment from the All Around Everything Stamp Set from My Creative Time.

*Chalkboard and apple stamp from Rubber Stampede.

Birthday Card ~ Manly (post #3)

I decided to play a little outside the "pile on the sweetness" challenge by using this sweet little cupcake cut. lol.
I wanted to make this card a manly one so I found these pattern papers in my stash and thought they went perfectly together.
I used the negative Silhouette cupcake cuts to create the frame then stamped it up with ink to match the paper.
I cut the negative cupcake frosting using the star pattern paper.
I then embossed the cupcake wrapper with a manly folder.
I topped my card off with a birthday banner and sponged edges.

*Card base 5.5 x 4.25 in.
*Card frame 5.25 x 4 in.
*Card front cut at 5 x 3.75 in with the Silhouette Cupcake with decorations #47375 cut inside it.
*Sponged then decorated inside negative Silhouette Cupcake with decorations #47375 cut.
*Sentiment stamps from the Happy Thoughts stamp set from Verve Stamps.
*Banner from the Flag It Die Set from Verve Stamps.
*Cupcake wrapper embossed using a folder from the Sizzix Diamond Plate &Riveted Metal Set.
*Memento Tuxedo Black stamp pad.
*CTMH Goldrush stamp pad.
*Foam tape for dimension.

Birthday Card ~ Black & White with Sparkles (post #2)

I placed the cupcake cut from this week's Silhouette freebie on the mat inside a rectangle so I could use the negative cut for my card.
I reduced the size so the cupcake would fit leaving a space above it to add the sentiment.
I sponged all of the white edges with black ink.
I added the striped pattern paper behind to act as the cupcake paper.
I took the frosting cut and sponged it with black ink then added glitter sprinkles.
I finished the card off by adding the sentiment and bow.

*Sentiment stamp from Craft Stamps.
*Glitter sprinkles added using Studio G Glitter Glue.
*Pattern paper from the Recollections Black & White 8.5 x 11 paper pad.
*Memento Tuxedo Black stamp pad.
*Ribbon bow attached using foam tape.

Birthday Card ~ Lot of Layers (post #1)

I usually try to keep my layers to a minimum since most of my cards need to be able to go through the mail so I try to not add a lot of heavy embellishments to them.
Creating cards with lots of layers but not a lot of bulk can be quite a challenge for me.

*Card base 5.5 x 4.25 in.
*Card front 5.25 x 4 in. stamped with the Birthday to You stamp from Verve Stamps .
*Sentiment Birthday to You stamp from Verve Stamps. (blog candy)
*Banners from the Flag It Die Set from Verve Stamps. (blog candy)
*Floral stamp from the Flourishes  Old Fashioned Florals stamp set. (blog candy)
*Oval die cut from the Spellbinders Oval One die set.
*Scallop oval die cut from the Spellbinders Big Scalloped Ovals Large die set.
*Doily cut at 3.5 in. from the Cricut Storybook cartridge.

Thank You Card ~ School Notes

I had this idea for a card for awhile and when I found this adhesive cork at Joanns I once again took myself off my paper time out and bought some.

Thank You Card ~ School Owl (post #3)

I got this cute little owl image from KaDoodle Bug Designs when it was a freebie.
I colored then cut the owl out using the 3x4 stitched journal die then sponged the edges.
I stamped my little ladybugs to create the little border.
Next I stamped my sentiment on the mini bookplate dies that are just the right size for card sentiments.
I finished my card off by adding a sweet little bow.

*Card base 5.5 x 4.25 in.
*Card front 5.25 x 4 in. the edge stamped with the ladybug and trail stamp from Stamp Craft.
*Sentiment frame from the Verve Stamps  Mini Bookplate Die Set.

Thinking of You Card ~ More Black & White (post #2)

Here is the other black and white card I created.
I used the scallop flowers, circles and sentiments then added the scalloped floral edge layers.
When I was taking pictures of this card I accidently put it the "wrong" way but I kind of liked it that way.
I ended up taking pictures of it both ways.
I originally designed it as a portrait style but kind of like the landscape style better.
One great thing with these sentiments is that there really is no "wrong" way.
Just curious... Which way do you prefer it?

*Card base 5.5 x 4.25 in.
*Sentiment from the My Creative Time All Around Everything Stamp Set.
*Flower and circle cuts from the My Creative Time Scallop Stitched Circle Die
*Memento Tuxedo Black stamp pad.

Thank you Card ~ Another Black & White (post #1)

I started this card out with a whole different card in mind using the circle flowers from my other black and white card today but just didn't like how it looked all together.
So what is a girl to do with all this fun stuff just waiting on her craft table?
Why sleep on it and then make two cards of course.
I added the Mini Bookplate, sentiment and ribbon to finish off this card.
I think my card turned out quite clean and simple for a card with 5-6 layers.

*Card base 5.5 x 4.25 in.
*Card front top embossed using the Cuttlebug Scallop Edge folder.

I got some time this morning to do a little more crafting before our family get together tonight.

Frame Easel Card ~ School Time

Here is my latest creation using my scraps from the Recollections Back To School package.
This time I cut the scraps into 0.75 in. strips and applied them to a 5.25 x 4 in. card front.
After I had them all in place I trimmed off the extra pieces that were hanging over the edges then applied the card front to the base.
These frames would make a fun addition to anyone's desk.

Just Because Card ~ 2 Teach (post #1)

Today's card could be used to give to that special teacher either as a thank you card or just because.
I have been having fun paper piecing using stamped and digital images.
It has been expanding my creative mojo to imagine how I can enhance the original image designs to meet my themed card idea.
I started with this cute little digital bird image.
Next I stamped and cut out the crayons and ruler using solid cardstock scraps.
Then I stamped and cut out the chalkboard image.
I finished it off by layering it all up using cardstock and design paper also from my scraps.

*Card base 5.5 x 4.25 in.
*Card fronts 5.25 x 4 in. then cut in half diagonally.
*Birds from Clearly digi Stamps
*Chalkboard from an Inkadinkado stamp.
*Copic markers used B93, YR23, Y21, R29, and G19
*Stampin Up Real Red stamp pad for sponged edges.
*Memento Tuxedo Black stamp pad.
*Design paper scraps originally from Recollections Back To School package.

May your day always be filled with love.
Hugs,
D~

Get Well Card ~ Floral Frenzy (post #2)

I dug into my large scrapbook paper stash to find some paper I haven't used yet.
Like a lot of crafters I have an obsession with collecting pretty paper... so much so that I have put myself on a paper buying time out.
Starting my blog and getting inspiration from the blogs I follow and the challenges I enter has helped me start shopping from my own stash.
The picture doesn't even come close to showing the extent of my obsession stash.
I literally have years worth of paper.
I really love how all these products came together to create my card.

*Card base 5.5 x 4.25 in.
*Card front design paper panels cut from the Colorbok Spring Morning 12 x 12 paper pad.
*Middle panel cut using the Stitched Journal Die from My Creative Time.
*Sentiment stamp is called  Feel Better Plain Jane from Verve Stamps.
*Oval cut from a Marvy punch then embossed using the Cuttlebug Musical Flourish folder.
*Ribbon from the Caribbean Splash  set from 3 Girl Jam.
*Paper flower from Michaels.
*CTMH Green Chiffon stamp pad.

May your day always be filled with love.
Hugs,
D~
